Be prepared, however, to stay out of the ocean most of the weekend. The rip current risk is high and the National Weather Service issued a warning that will be in place through Friday night, because of the passing hurricanes offshore. The risk could become more moderate, but sure to pay attention and listen to the lifeguards' warnings about the risks. Related: Rip Currents In NJ: What To Look For, How To Survive Them

JELLYFISH
From the state Department of Environmental Protection and the New Jersey Jellyspotters

The shift from summer to fall means the issues with jellyfish will dissipate as well. Clinging jellyfish, which pack a powerful sting that can result in hospitalizations, have not been reported as an issue since July. The state Department of Environmental Protection maps sampling on its clinging jellyfish map and no new samplings have been posted since July.

Bay nettles are still around but there have been few reports about them in the New Jersey Jellyspotters Facebook group. Bay nettles sting but their sting is not as powerful as that of a clinging jellyfish. Read more: Jellyfish Crowding NJ's Bays: What To Know About Sea And Bay Nettles
