Man Pleads Guilty To Running Over Geese In Toms River Parking Lot

TOMS RIVER, NJ — A Brick Township man has pleaded guilty to animal cruelty after driving over a family of Canada geese in a Toms River parking lot in 2019, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office announced Monday.

Quintin Alec-Manning, 22, is scheduled to be sentenced by Superior Court Judge Guy P. Ryan on May 5, at which time the prosecutor’s office will request a term of 90 days in jail as a condition of probation, community service, and an order prohibiting him from ever owning or working with animals in the future, the prosector’s office said.

Alec-Manning was arrested May 30, 2019, after Toms River police identified him as the person who purposely ran over five geese, including goslings, in the parking lot of the Indian Head Plaza on Route 9 on May 29, killing the geese.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer praised Assistant Prosecutor Victoria Veni, who handled the case, as well as the Toms River Township Police Department, Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, and New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Division of Fish and Wildlife, for their combined investigation.
