National Night Out, TR United, Art Walk In Toms River: Monday Manual

TOMS RIVER, NJ ? Welcome to the Aug. 1 edition of Monday Manual, where we highlight events coming up during the week in the Toms River area.

On tap this week is the 2022 National Night Out event, which will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Huddy Park in downtown Toms River.

National Night Out began in the 1980s as a way to show community unity against crime, and has become an annual event across the nation in the four decades since.

The Toms River celebration also features TR UNITED Around the World, which includes displays about the various cultures. TR UNITED ? Uniting Neighbors In Town Every Day ? was created by Toms River Police Chief Mitchell Little in 2018 to promote understanding and foster a sense of community.

In addition to National Night Out, the Toms River Planning Board is set to meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The agenda for the meeting has not yet been posted.

If you would rather be outside and enjoying an evening out, the Toms River Artist Community will hold its monthly Art Walk on Main from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday. Tables will be set up along the sidewalk on Main Street (starting at The Downtown Shops, 53 Main St.). TRAC artists along with some friends will be showing off and selling their works right on Main St. Some of the artists will be doing demos, some artists will have mini projects for the kids to take home. Some weeks the event includes live entertainment.

On Friday in Seaside Heights it's Broadway Meets The Beach, with performances, prizes and more beginning at 6:30 p.m. on the Franklin Avenue stage.

On Saturday, it's Arts & Crafts By the Sea from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with tons of vendors along the boardwalk.
