Ocean County Couple, Father Still Missing In FL Condo Collapse

SURFSIDE, FL — A Lakewood, New Jersey, couple and the woman's father remain among the more than 150 people still missing in the rubble of a condominium collapse in Florida.

Ten people have been confirmed dead in the partial collapse of the 12-story Champlain Towers South Condo Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava said Monday; 151 people remain missing.

Benny and Malky Weisz of Lakewood, and Malky's father Harry Rosenberg, were identified Friday by Rep. Chris Smith of New Jersey's 4th District as three people among those unaccounted for as search efforts continued for the fifth day.

More than 80 rescuers are working at the site at a time, Andy Alvarez, a deputy incident commander, told "Good Morning America" on Monday.

Workers have identified pockets in the debris where survivors might possibly be located as they've tunneled through the building "in a frantic search to seek that hope, that miracle, to see who we can bring out of this building alive," he added.

Cameras have been sent down into these voids, showing that there is enough room in some of these spaces for there to possibly be survivors there, fire officials said at a Monday morning news conference.

The Weiszes had been vacationing in Florida, a friend of the family told NBC 4 in New York on Friday.

The Times of Israel reported that the Israeli consulate in Miami has offered the assistance of an Israeli search-and-rescue team to join searchers who are picking through the rubble for people who might still be alive. There are 35 people who are Jewish, some of whom have connections to Israel, among the missing, the report said.
