Pet Valu Closing All U.S. Stores, Including 2 In Toms River

The pet store chain announced it is closing all of its locations in the United States.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Pet Valu, which has two stores in Toms River, will close all of its stores in the United States, the company announced Wednesday.

Pet Valu Inc. said it would "commence a wind down of its operations due to severe impact from COVID-19."

The company didn't announce when each store would close. Store-closing sales began Thursday. Anyone with a gift card must use it by Dec. 13, and customers can't exchange them for cash.

Customers who take part in their rewards program will stop earning points as of Nov. 21 and must redeem their rewards by Dec. 13, or by the final day of the store closing sale. Free food rewards can only be redeemed in the stores.

As of Thursday, all sales are final. Items that were purchased before Thursday may be returned no later than Dec. 4, and within 30 days of the purchase date on the receipt. No returns will be accepted starting Dec. 5.

Pet Valu Canada will continue operations, but customers can no longer place orders on petvalu.com/us/.

The Toms River stores are located at 2360 Lakewood Road, in the Tri City Plaza, and at 860 Fischer Blvd., in the Bay Plaza.
