A Post-Labor Day Gift: Seaside Heights Beaches Will Be Free

If you've been waiting for the crowds to dwindle to hit the sand, you will get to enjoy them without paying for beach tags.

If you’ve been waiting for the summer crowds to disappear, for the college kids to go back to school -- the locals summer, as so many refer to it -- to go to the beach, your patience has been rewarded.

Seaside Heights officials announced on the borough’s website that admission to the beach will be free from now through the end of September.

The beaches will be open every day next week -- Tuesday through Friday -- in addition to next weekend, Sept. 12 and 13, as well as the following two weekends, Sept. 19-20 and Sept. 26-27, and there will be lifeguards on the beach.

“Beach ramp access points and swimming areas will be determined based on our available personnel,“ borough administrator Christopher Vaz said in the announcement. “Some beach ramps may not be open. Swimming is permitted only when lifeguards are on duty and only in the designated swimming areas.”

Island Heights also will have lifeguards on duty on the weekends through the end of September.
