She's Back: 3,400-Pound Great White Mary Lee Surfaces Off N.J.
The great white surfaced Friday off Ocean City.

The 3,400-pound great white shark with a Twitter account that entertained and intrigued thousands of followers at the Jersey Shore last summer has returned to the waters off New Jersey.
Mary Lee, the great white tagged by OCEARCH, the shark research organization, surfaced off Ocean City on Friday, according to the satellite tracking on the OCEARCH website.
The shark, whose presence last year off the shore generated not only a tremendous following on Twitter -- the account dedicated to the shark now has more than 92,000 followers -- but a larger discussion about sharks in general.

Chances are Mary Lee has been drawn to the area by the spring migration of striped bass and bluefish, both of which have been seen in large numbers in recent days off the coast. Recreational fishermen have been catching both all along the coast.
OCEARCH is tracking more than 100 sharks on its Shark Tracker program.
