Thunderstorms, 45-MPH Winds In NJ Weather Forecast
Here's the latest on the thunderstorms and strong winds that are expected in New Jersey. Some winter weather is expected, too.

NEW JERSEY – New Jersey's going to be hit with another wave of summer-like storms this week, with thunderstorms expected to hit some areas by Wednesday night. Some areas, ironically, will get a taste of winter, too.
Thunderstorms and strong winds – with gusts up to 45-mph – are supposed to impact New Jersey on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
The worst of the weather is expected to arrive after 8 p.m. on Wednesday, and thunderstorms are possible at the Jersey Shore, Central Jersey and South Jersey.

Rain, and even some snow, could hit North Jersey on Thursday morning, while strong winds are supposed to impact the entire state, the NWS said.

Here is what to expect at 7 a.m. on Thursday:

An approaching winter storm hitting the Midwest and areas north of New Jersey will strengthen enough to generate powerful winds throughout the Northeast, according to AccuWeather.
"Gusts between 35 and 45 mph will be common, while the ridges over the central Appalachians and the eastern sides of lakes Erie, Ontario and Huron can experience frequent gusts between 45 and 55 mph," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Brett Anderson said.

Here is the forecast:
- Tuesday afternoon: Rain. High near 50. East wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
- Tuesday night: Areas of drizzle and fog with a chance of rain. Cloudy, with a low around 40. Northeast wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a 10th of an inch possible.
- Wednesday: A chance of drizzle with a slight chance of showers before noon, then a chance of showers, mainly after 5 p.m. Areas of fog before 8am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 52. East wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a 10th of an inch possible.
- Wednesday night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Low around 39. East wind 10 to 15 mph becoming west after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
- Thursday: A chance of showers before 7am, then a slight chance of rain between 7 a.m. and 1pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 46. Breezy, with a west wind 15 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
