Toms River Baseball Film To Air As Coach Frank Nears 900th Win
Toms River South's Ken Frank is 6 wins from 900. The 2018 documentary "South Baseball – The Spirit of Winning" will air in tribute to him.
TOMS RIVER, NJ — As the 2021 high school baseball season nears its first pitch, Toms River High School South baseball coach Ken Frank is nearing a significant milestone: his 900th coaching victory.
In honor of that impending milestone, the Grunin Center at Ocean County College is hosting a virtual showing of "South Baseball – The Spirit of Winning," the 2018 documentary about Frank and the Toms River South baseball team's historic successes.
Toms River is famous for its obsession with baseball, highlighted in the film by the story of Todd Frazier, who rose from Little League World Series Champion to Major Leaguer. This hometown hero has served as an inspiration to baseball players and fans of all ages for more than 20 years.

The one-hour documentary explores Frank's consistent success at building winning baseball teams year after year, along with the impact on his mentorship on hundreds of players, including Frazier, over more than 40 years as coach.
Frank, who is the winningest baseball coach of all time in New Jersey and ranked in the top 20 nationwide, enters the 2021 season needing just six wins to reach No. 900. Opening day is April 19.

"South Baseball – The Spirit of Winning" will be streamed online at 7 p.m. on April 22. Tickets to the virtual showing are free but you must register for access. During the streaming of the film, people will be able to comment in the chat and connect with others watching the film.

The film, which was aired at the Grunin Center live in its debut, was produced by Sandra Levine Productions, LLC, founded by Sandra Levine, a veteran television journalist, Toms River native and Toms River South alumna who has been nominated 10 times for regional Emmy Awards. Levine also has done other documentaries, including one on the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy.
