Toms River Cop Hit By Driver Coming To Aid Of Family Member In Crash
The driver hit the officer as they headed to help a family member who was involved in the crash, police said.

TOMS RIVER, NJ ? A Toms River police officer suffered minor injuries Friday night when the officer was hit by a vehicle while directing traffic at a crash scene, the police department said.
The officer, who was not identified, was directing traffic at the crash on Route 9 near Stevens Road and was hit by a family member coming to the scene of the crash, police said.
The officer was taken to Ocean University Medical Center in Brick for treatment, police said.

Police did not identify the driver, and no additional information was immediately available on the initial crash. Both crashes remain under investigation, police said.
