Toms River Council Set To Discuss Retail Marijuana Ban
The agenda for the council meeting, which is Wednesday evening, also includes actions for the next steps for the former Surf Club property.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — The Toms River Township Council has a full agenda for its meeting Wednesday evening, including final reading on an ordinance to ban retail marijuana businesses in the township.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m. and is held in L. Manuel Hirshblond Meeting room at Town Hall on Washington Street. Video of the meeting can be viewed online here.
The proposed ordinance to bar any retail sales, distribution, or delivery services from setting up shop in the township was introduced in May but tabled for further discussion. The proposed ordinance does not ban delivery services from other towns from delivering cannabis to Toms River residents; it bars delivery services from basing their operations in Toms River. You can read the proposed ordinance here.

The council agenda also includes a resolution to award a design contract to T&M Associates for engineering services for demolition and the design of changes to the Surf Club property. That contract is for $284,803.
