TOMS RIVER, NJ - Winter Storm Jonas brought between two to three feet of snow to New Jersey causing approximately 90,000 power outages and coastal flooding in the southern part of the state.

As of Monday, the State of Emergency has been lifted, power has been restored to most of NJ and bridges and tunnels to New York City have been reopened.

Still, hundreds of New Jersey school districts announced closures and motorists are warned to continue driving with extra caution.

We asked Patch readers if they were happy with the plowing done on their block. Here’s what you said:

  • They plowed right down the middle of street, so we had to dig driveway plus out into the street.”
  • “Every time the plows came down Lamplighter & Innkeeper they stayed in middle of street. Never came closer than 3 feet from curb, except when they used backhoe to create 7 foot pile on corner of my lawn!”
  • “I was surprised by how well the streets were plowed in Beachwood. Our block is usually never bare pavement and that plow came through multiple times during the storm, so at any time during the day Saturday, our street was open.”
  • “Basically made one pass down the middle so the snow bank is roughly 8 feet away from the curb, and looks more like they used a pavement roller over the snow rather than plowed it.”
  • “Pretty good for the amount of snow we had!”
  • “Considering the amount of snow we had, I am not complaining. They made it so it is possible to get out in an emergency and that is all I could ask for.”
