Toms River Schools Sending Home Meal Kits Starting April 1

Toms River students will receive the meal kits twice a week, with three breakfasts and three lunches, the district announced.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — When Toms River Regional Schools students head home Thursday afternoon for spring break, they will be bringing home meal kits instead of prepared meals.

The meal kits are being distributed to students attending school in-person, and students who are receiving fully virtual instruction can pick up meals between 10 a.m. and noon, the district said. Virtual students who receive meal delivery will have their meal kits delivered Thursday afternoon.

The free meal kits being provided are shelf-stable, peanut-free, and meet state and federal guidelines for nutrition, the district said. Each box contains six meals — three breakfasts and three lunches — and milk will be provided as well.

When students return from Spring Break, those receiving in-person instruction will take home their meal kits on Mondays and Thursdays. All-virtual students will be able to pick up their meals on Fridays or, if eligible, have them delivered. Pickup or delivery of meal kits will not be available for students attending school in person.
