Updated COVID-19 Vaccine Site List For Ocean County

Here are sites where the COVID-19 vaccines are being administered and places to monitor for appointment openings.

OCEAN COUNTY, NJ — If you're among the thousands of Ocean County residents still trying to get an appointment for the COVID-19 vaccination, here is the weekly update on locations offering the vaccine.

Knowing the locations is only a third of the battle in getting inoculated, however. So in addition to the list of sites where vaccinations are being supplied, here are a host of tips culled from various places to get an appointment.

Ocean County has had a dearth of sites providing inoculations but received a boost last week with the addition of seven new CVS pharmacies. While sites are listed, the limited supply of vaccine doses means you will have to check often for appointments. (See the Ocean County list of vaccine sites below.)

For those who are not Internet-comfortable, we've included information on contacting volunteer groups that are helping people — especially those 65 and older — make appointments for vaccinations. Read more:

The Ocean County Health Department adds appointments often throughout the day. Check the website, www.ochd.org, frequently. The health department does not maintain a waiting list, however.
You can register on the NJ Vaccine Scheduling System and you will be notified when appointments are available. You should receive an email confirming your registration and telling you which vaccine eligibility group you are in. The NJ registration system only applies to a handful of sites, including the mega-site at Rowan College in Gloucester County.
Rite Aid, ShopRite, CVS and the hospital systems all are taking registrations separately, and you may be able to find an appointment at sites outside Ocean County in one of those locations.
The New Jersey Covid Vaccine Info Facebook group has published a number of tips. The group also can connect people with volunteers who are helping to book appointments.
Two Twitter accounts identify vaccine appointment openings: Vaccine Bot NJ and VaxxUpdates. If you are on Twitter, follow the accounts and enable notifications for updates.
NJ Vaccine Matchmakers is assisting with vaccine appointment registration. It was started by WGIRLS Inc. — a volunteer program centered around empowering women and children in underserved communities. Request help here.
NJ Vaccine Hunters on Facebook also offers information and updates on appointment availability.

AtlantiCare is operating the mega-site for vaccinations at the Atlantic City Convention Center. It opens appointment availability three times a week, at 3 p.m. Tuesdays, 6 p.m. Thursdays and 9 a.m. Saturdays. The following tips were shared in the NJ Covid Vaccine Info Facebook group:
- Create an account at https://covidreg.atlanticare.org/ScheduleVaccine ahead of time and be sure to write down your user name and password. On the days appointments open, go on the site at least an hour before the appointment times open. Once the appointments open you should see a message saying you're in the queue. When your queue number is current, you will get a message that you are being redirected to the site and then you need to enter your username and password. When you are trying to pick an appointment, don't pick the first on the list; by the time you will click, that appointment will be gone.
