Almost $200K Recommended To Tri-boro Schools By Gov. Murphy

TRI-BORO, NJ: Gov. Murphy is recommending that almost $200,000 be allocated to schools in Butler, Bloomingdale and Kinnelon, under the Securing Our Children's Future Bond Act (SOCFBA).

Here is how funding will be distributed:

• Butler: $67,565
• Bloomingdale: $28,511
• Kinnelon: $103,773

The Murphy Administration is recommending $317.2 million in awards for an initial round of SOCFBA.

Of the total funding, about $65.4 million is being allocated towards School Security Projects, including the funding for the Tri-boro schools.

Here is the full list of recommendations.

The grants are meant to fund school security, water infrastructure improvements, and enhancement of career and technical education in county vocational-technical school districts and county colleges.

"I have long believed that investments in our students and schools are investments in the future of our state," Murphy said in a statement. "These projects will help our school districts and institutions of higher education keep students safe and healthy, while also ensuring that they are ready for the careers of the future."

Funding comes from $500 million in bonds approved by New Jersey voters in November 2018.

"Building a stronger and fairer New Jersey means providing our students with equitable access to high-quality, career-relevant academic programs that translate into meaningful jobs and lifelong success," said Secretary of Higher Education Brian Bridges. "These investments will enhance students' access to experiential learning opportunities required to launch their careers in the Garden State and compete in New Jersey's innovation economy."
