Butler Board of Ed, Read to Dogs This Week

You need to know about Boards of Education: Well, just one, really. The Butler Board of Education meets at 7:30 p.m. Monday, with a variety of topics up for discussion, including the contract to provide students with transportation during the 2013-14 school year. According to the agenda, the total cost will be $245,926.81.

You need to know about local councils: Again, just one, really. The Bloomingdale Council meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday in their council chambers. On the agenda for the meeting is the introduction of the 2013 municipal budget and the establishment of a bank cap for use in future years.

You need to know about books: And where better to learn than at your local library? The Butler Public Library is holding a . The library will place a book plate inside the book with your name and a message from you to commemorate your donation.

You need to know about reading: And once more, where better to learn than at your local library? Here at Patch we are nuts about libraries, and one week out of the year the entire nation shares our passion. That is this week: National Library Week. So to celebrate, we're promoting some library events, like Read to Joey the Dog at the Butler Library. Kids who wish to practice reading aloud can read to a well-behaved Golden Retriever dog at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
