Christmas Gift Money For Widowed Grandmother Stolen In Morris County WalMart

WATCH: A teen was trying to do something nice for her recently widowed grandmother, when a Christmas grinch got in the way.

RIVERDALE, NJ— Emily Moriarty wanted to do something nice for her grandmother his holiday season. This is the first Christmas the family is spending without Moriarty's grandfather, who passed away three weeks ago. The couple was married for 69 years.

But a local grinch had other ideas. While out shopping at the Riverdale WalMart for a Christmas gift for Grandma, Moriarty, 15, dropped her wallet, containing $130 in cash.

Another shopper picked the wallet up, and walked off with the money Moriarty was going to spend on her recently widowed grandmother. (You can watch the woman pick it up in the video below.)

"I actually felt like sick to my stomach because it's the holiday season. It's about giving, and this woman took my money,” Moriarty told News12 NJ.

WalMart gave the teen a $125 gift card to make up for the theft, but she's keeping Christmas alive: Moriarty will donate it to her church to help others.
