Kinnelon Mayor: 3 Charged Amid Vehicle Burglary Spike

Authorities seized the vehicle of those arrested.

KINNELON, NJ — Three people face charges after a spike in vehicle burglaries in Kinnelon, according to Mayor James J. Freda. Kinnelon police arrested three males from Newark and seized their vehicle, Freda said.

Officials didn't release their names.

The Kinnelon Police Department conducted a burglary task force operation to combat the recent spike in vehicle burglaries and thefts in the area. Butler Police, The Morris County Prosecutor's Office and the Morris County Auto Theft Task Force also assisted in the investigation.

"The Kinnelon Police Department again urges you to lock your vehicle doors, remove / hide your valuables from view and remove your key fobs from the vehicle," Freda wrote. "If you observe something suspicious, please immediately call 911. And lastly, thank you to our amazing police officers and thank you to the Morris County Sheriff officers and all others that assisted and keep up the great work."
