Kinnelon One Of NJ's Safest Cities In New Ranking
AdvisorSmith said as far as towns go, you won't find much safer than Kinnelon in the Garden State.
KINNELON, NJ - Using reported crime data from the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting Dataset, AdvisorSmith has named Kinnelon one of the safest small cities in the Garden State.
Their study analyzed violent and property crimes from 37 large cities, 200 midsize cities, and 247 small cities in the state. Crime scores were calculated for each city, and the cities were ranked to find the safest places in New Jersey. From that research, they determined that Kinnelon is the #3 safest small city in New Jersey. Here's why:
- Kinnelon's crime score was 3.8, which was much lower than the statewide average of 33.8 for small cities.
- Kinnelon's violent crime rate was 0 per 1000 residents, compared with an average of 5.4 per 1000 across all small cities.
- The city's property crime rate was 2.2 per 1000 residents. Statewide, the average property crime rate in small cities was 22.2 per 1000.
The safest small city in New Jersey was Matawan. Located in Monmouth County, Matawan has a dense suburban feel, with a train station that offers direct access to New York City. The city has two major lakes, Lefferts and Mattawan, and is also bisected by two major highways.
