Leonard ‘Lenny’ Hasson, age 81, passed on on 9/11/2019

Leonard ‘Lenny’ Hasson, age 81, passed 9/11/2019. He was a resident of Bloomingdale for over 53 years. Lenny was born in New York City, the son of the late Danny and Suzanne Hasson.

Lenny was a 19 year member of the Butler based Tri-Boro First Aid Squad. He was still actively pulling his scheduled Thursday Crew duty time just weeks ago. For many years he held the office of Assistant Recording Secretary. Lenny, a valued member of the Squad, received the coveted Outstanding Service Award which is earned by the member who participates in covering the most emergency calls in a given year.

He was the perfect liaison between the Squad and the Bloomingdale Police. He worked for many years as a Dispatcher for the Police Department and was a 40+ year Special Class 1 Officer. His earlier career was as a Logistics Analyst for 40 years at Singer-Kearfott in Little Falls.

His razor sharp wit and compassionate care for his patients was part of what made him special. There was not a medical emergency call or business meeting that he didn’t diffuse the tension with an light quip .

A memorial service, celebrating his life, was held at Bloomingdale Firemen’s Hall attended by many in the community whose lives he touched. He was honored with a Gold Cross Ceremony officiated by Mary Claire Shiber, (VP and Chaplain of the 17th District of the New Jersey State First Aid Council) with Tri-Boro First Aid Squad members, paramedics and police representing Bloomingdale, Butler and Kinnelon.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Antoinette Hasson.

His loving sister Sandra Kaplan and husband Ron.

His beloved children Andrea Redfield and husband Mark, Mark Hasson, Pamela Natale, Craig Hasson and wife Tina.

Lenny cherished his 9 grandchildren; David, Anna, Richard, Ashlee, Matthew, Marco, Christopher, Ryan and Casey; along with one adored great grandson Liam.
