BLOOMINGDALE, NJ — Police made several arrests between Sept. 27 and Oct. 5, including for drugs and drunk driving. You can read about recently police activity, as written by police in the blotter, here:
On 9/27/19 at 20:35 hours, Ptl. Antonio Calabro stopped a motor vehicle on Main Street. In speaking to the 38 year old male driver out of Butler, Ptl. Calabro observed signs of intoxication and after conducting several Field Sobriety Tests, the driver was arrested and transported to headquarters for processing. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated near a school, possession of an open container of alcohol which was found in the vehicle, consuming alcohol in the vehicle and several additional motor vehicle summonses. He was released to a family member pending his court date. His vehicle was impounded. Lt. Ronald Frost and Ptl. Gary Walker assisted with the arrest.
On 10/5/19 at 10:49 hours, Sgt. Michael Boffa stopped a vehicle for speeding on Route 287 North. In speaking with the female driver, a 22 year old out of Allentown, PA, Sgt. Boffa learned that she was operating a rental vehicle and that the rental agreement was expired. In contacting the rental agency, it was learned that although the vehicle had not yet been listed as stolen, the operator should not have possession of the vehicle. While dealing with this, Sgt. Boffa observed signs of C.D.S. use and a plastic bag with suspected marijuana along with items used to ingest same were found. The driver was arrested and transported to headquarters for processing. The vehicle was impounded per the rental agency. The driver was charged with possession of C.D.S., possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of C.D.S. in a motor vehicle, speeding and several additional motor vehicle summonses. She was released pending her court date. Lt. Ronald Frost, Ptl. Michael Fatzer and Matron Dorothy McMaster assisted with the arrest.

Also on 10/5/19 at 13:00 hours, Ptl. Vincent Graziosa responded to a head-on motor vehicle accident on Union Avenue with airbag deployment. On scene several individuals were already assisting the 2 drivers, one of which was lying in the roadway near a vehicle. Both drivers, a 27 year old male from Newark who was traveling south on Union Avenue and a 76 year old female from Wanaque traveling north on Union Avenue, required medical assistance and 2 ambulances from the Tri Boro First Aid Squad responded to the scene. Both drivers were transported to the hospital. None of the injuries are considered life-threatening. The Bloomingdale Volunteer Fire Department had responded to assist with cleanup of leaked vehicle fluids. They also assisted with blocking a section of Union Avenue running between Van Dam Ave. and Greenwood Ave. in Haskell. It was learned that the southbound vehicle had crossed onto and over the double yellow lines and partially into the northbound lane which caused the accident. While inspecting the southbound vehicle, Ptl. Graziosa observed signs of C.D.S. use and a search yielded several items used to ingest C.D.S. After both vehicles were towed and the scene cleared, Ptl. Graziosa responded to headquarters to issue several summonses, including possession of C.D.S., possession of drug paraphernlia, driving under the influence, possession of C.D.S. in a motor vehicle and for careless driving. All these charges are pending service to the male southbound driver. Sgt. Michael Boffa, Ptl. Michael Fatzer, Det. Daniel Greenwood, Det. Sami Zeidan and officers from Wanaque and Pompton Lakes PD all assisted with the accident.
