Man Charged In Dozen Of Butler Car Thefts: Prosecutor
The man faces 40 counts in connection to a string of car burglaries.
BUTLER, NJ — A Paterson man faces dozens of charges in connection to a rash of car thefts and burglaries in Morris County this year.
Moises Echevarria, 40, of Paterson, was arrested last week following a multi-department investigation. His arrest came after a number of car thefts and burglaries in Butler, whose police department investigated with assistance from the Morris County Sheriff’s Office, the Bloomfield Police Department, Wayne Police Department, Woodland Park Police Department, Cedar Grove Police Department, and Clifton Police Department.
Echevarria faces the following charges:

- 32 counts of third degree burglary
- 2 counts of third degree theft
- 2 counts of fourth degree theft
- 2 counts of fourth degree joyriding
- 2 counts of disorderly persons offense of theft
Information on the exact number of cars targeted, and what was taken was not immediately available.
Echevarria was arrested on June 19 and taken to the Essex County Correctional Facility ahead of a first appearance and a pre-trial detention hearing.
