Man Punched In The Mouth At Business: Bloomingdale Police Blotter

Police responded to several calls for help, including for a man assaulted at a local business.

BLOOMINGDALE, NJ — Bloomingdale police responded to several calls for service between July 5 and 12, including for drugs, thefts, and assault. Read about those arrests, as written by police in the blotter, here:

On 7/5/19 at 03:35 hours, Ptl. Michael Fatzer and Ptl. Vincent Graziosa responded to a residence on Ella Street. A male had broken into the residence and stole a cell phone and a set of keys to the resident's vehicle and fled the scene in the resident's vehicle. Utilizing the phone's GPS, the officers contacted the Hardyston Police Department who responded to the corresponding area given and located the stolen vehicle and a 26 year old male from Bloomfield who was arrested. The male was transported back to Bloomingdale for processing where he was charged with burglary and 2 counts of theft. He was transported to Passaic County Jail. Det. Daniel Greenwood and the Passaic County Sheriff's Crime Scene Investigation Unit also assisted with the investigation.

On 7/7/19 at 21:31 hours, Ptl. Robert Grabowski responded to a business on Hamburg Turnpike. On location he learned that one of the patrons had been assaulted. Ptl. Grabowski spoke with a 30 year old male from Bloomingdale who had been struck in the mouth during an altercation. A second male who was involved in the altercation had fled the scene. Tri Boro First Aid Squad responded to the scene, but the 30 year old victim declined transportation to the hospital. A witness described the suspect as being approximately 6 foot tall with a beard and wearing a baseball cap. Ptl. Conrad Jimenez initially responded to the scene and Det. Daniel Greenwood is conducting a followup investigation.

On 7/9/19 at 11:25 hours, Ptl. Sami Zeidan stopped a motor vehicle on Main Street. After initially speaking to the driver, Ptl. Zeidan spoke to a passenger. The passenger, a 25 year old male out of Leonia, provided what was later learned to be a fictitious name. Upon learning the passenger's real name it was discovered that he had two warrants for his arrest out of the Hudson County Sheriff's Department and the Bergen County Sheriff's Department. Also discovered was a vape pen cartridge containing THC oil. The passenger was arrested and transported to headquarters where he was charged with hindering apprehension, possession of C.D.S. and possession of drug paraphernalia. Because of the warrant out of Hudson County, officers from their Sheriff's Department responded and took custody. Sgt. David Terpstra assisted with the arrest.

On 7/12/19 at 07:23 hours, while conducting a RADAR detail on Oak Street, Sgt. David Terpstra observed a vehicle traveling faster then the speed limit. He exited his vehicle and attempted to signal the vehicle to stop. After initially slowing down, the vehicle proceeded to pass Sgt. Terpstra and headed towards Union Avenue. Sgt. Terpstra entered his patrol vehicle and pursued the vehicle which lead him from Union Ave., onto Ballston St., then turned onto Wallace Ave., then again onto Orchard St. Sgt. Terpstra was finally able to stop the vehicle on Van Dam Avenue. In speaking to the driver, a 30 year old male from Bloomingdale, it was learned that his driver's license was suspended. He was issued motor vehicle summonses for speeding, driving while suspended, failure to obey an officer's signal, failure to stop at a stop sign and several additional summonses. He was released pending his court date. Ptl. Sami Zeidan assisted with the stop.
