Memorial Service for Former Mayor, Morris Freeholder to be Held Saturday

Jack Schrier died in April at 82.

Politically and professionally, Jack Schrier was an accomplished man.

The Mendham Township resident died at Morristown Medical Center on April 2 at the age of 82. Now, nearly three months later, the community will gather to pay their final respects.

Schrier was the oldest of four children, growing up in Newark before attending Fairleigh Dickinson University and going into the workforce as a radio announcer.

He then became a professional photographer and advertising copywriter, with work published in Time Life Books on Photography, Look Magazine, The Saturday Evening Post, and CBS Television.

Schrier consulted in the business as the owner of Catalogistics, Inc.

Politically the Mendham Township resident was a committeeman and mayor in his town and served on the Morris County Board of Chosen Freeholders as well as the Highlands Council. He was also instrumental in the creation of the Morris County 9-11 Memorial.

Schrier is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, a son, a daughter, and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 27 at 11 a.m. at Brookside Community Club in Mendham Township. Funeral arrangements were handled by Bailey Funeral Homes.
