Compost Bins Being Sold at a Discount This Weekend
Educational seminars on composting will be held at a special event this weekend.

Bloomingdale residents can purchase compost bins at a discount this weekend thanks to a special program sponsored by Passaic County.
Residents can purchase recycling bins, kitchen scrap buckets, aerators, rodent screens, and more at a special sale on Saturday.
Nina Seiden, the county’s solid waste and recycling programs coordinator, said that, “composting is nature’s way of recycling.”

Residents can purchase compost bins for $55; the bins sell at retail for $100.
Rain barrels, which allow people to capture rain water, can be purchased for $75.

Seminars on how to properly create compost and use a rain barrel will be held at the event.
The sale will be held at the Louis Bay II Public Library in Hawthorne, 345 Lafayette Ave. from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., rain or shine.
To reserve a compost bin and/or rain barrel and guarantee their availability the day of the event, call the Passaic County Office of Solid Waste and Recycling Programs at 973-305-5738 and give your name, phone number, and number of bins/barrels to be purchased.
