Traffic Stops Lead To Several Drug Arrests: Bloomingdale PD

BLOOMINGDALE, NJ — Bloomingdale police made a number of arrests in the first week of September, mostly for drugs following traffic stops. Read about recent police activity, as written by police in the blotter, here:

On 9/3/19 at 11:21 hours, Sgt. David Terpstra stopped a motor vehicle on Hamburg Turnpike. In speaking with the occupants, Sgt. Terpstra observed signs of C.D.S. use. A search of the vehicle yielded a number of partially used items containing suspected marijuana. Both the driver, a 22 year old male from Newark, and the passenger, a 23 year old male from Newark, were both arrested and transported to headquarters for processing. The passenger was charged with possession of C.D.S. and possession of drug paraphernalia while the driver was charged with possession of C.D.S., possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of C.D.S. in a motor vehicle. Both were released pending their court date. Ptl. Kevin Peirsel and Ptl. Sami Zeidan assisted with the arrest.

On 9/4/19 at 17:39 hours, Sgt. Michael Boffa and Ptl. Antonio Calabro were conducting a radar detail on Reeve Avenue when Ptl. Calabro observed a white Jeep traveling at a high rate of speed. He was able to conduct a motor vehicle stop and after speaking with the 30 year old male driver out of Bloomingdale, Ptl. Calabro observed signs of C.D.S. usage. A search of vehicle yielded a small amount of suspected marijuana along with several vape cartridges containing THC oil. The driver was arrested and transported to headquarters for processing. He was charged with possession of C.D.S., possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of C.D.S. in a motor vehicle, speeding and other motor vehicle violations. He was released pending his court date.

On 9/6/19 at 10:33 hours, Ptl. Sami Zeidan stopped a motor vehicle on Main Street. He discovered that the 19 year old male driver out of Butler was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver's license. Also, Ptl. Zeidan observed signs of C.D.S. use. A search yielded a vape cartridge containing suspected THC. He was arrested and transported to headquarters for processing where he was charged with possession of C.D.S., possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of C.D.S. in a motor vehicle, driving while suspended and several additional motor vehicle summonses. He was released pending his court date. Sgt. Michael Boffa, Sgt. David Terpstra and Ptl. Ryan Norlander (Riverdale PD) assisted with the arrest.

Also on 9/6/19 at 16:26 hours, Ptl. Sami Zeidan conducted a motor vehicle stop on a truck traveling east on Main Street. After initially speaking with the driver, Ptl. Zeidan spoke with a passenger and learned that the 26 year old male out of Paterson had several outstanding warrants for his arrest out of the Passaic County Sheriff's Department, Haledon, Fairfield and Paterson. Ptl. Zeidan also observed signs of C.D.S. use and an ensuing search of the vehicle yielded a pair of tin containers containing suspected marijuana. The passenger was arrested and transported to headquarters where he was charged with possession of C.D.S. and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was then turned over to officers from the Passaic County Sheriff's Department on their warrant. Sgt. Michael Boffa assisted with the arrest.
