Wife Files Temporary Restraining Order Against Morris County Sheriff

The wife of the Morris County sheriff filed a restraining order against him over the weekend.

Diana Rochford, who filed for divorce in June from Sheriff Edward Rochford, filed a temporary restraining order against him over the weekend, according to NJ.com.

Patricia Barbarito, Rochford’s attorney, declined to comment if the restraining order will impact the sheriff’s ability to carry a firearm or if any weapons have been seized, NJ.com reported.

Firearms are seized under state statutes governing temporary restraining orders from those who have a restraining order filed against them. The Attorney General’s Office handles the decision on a case-by-case basis regarding law enforcement officers subject to a temporary restraining order carrying firearms while on duty, NJ.com reported.

The sheriff filed and then dropped a lawsuit earlier this month against the Morris County Freeholders for the hiring of nine new officers.
