Freehold Driver Takes Second-Straight Checkered Flag

A Freehold driver won his second consecutive stock car race at Wall Stadium Saturday.

Steven Reed’s win in the 40-lap Modified main feature race was also his fourth win of the season, track officials said. 

Ryan Cottrell of Neptune was the first leader of the event and held off the advances of Lavallette’s Adam LaCicero in the early on. LaCicero then raced into the lead on a lap eight restart as Chris Hamilton of Oakland and Reed advanced to second and third, officials said.

As the laps wore on the top three raced in tight formation until Reed slipped into second on a Lap 21 restart. Three laps later, LaCicero tagged the guardrail and was out of the race. 

Reed led to the checkered flag, with Hamilton in second, Shaun Carrig of Little Falls in third, Andrew Krause of Holmdel in fourth and Eric Mauriello in fifth.
