Neptune Man Charged With Weapons Violations

Man had stolen handgun, expandable baton, other weapons

A Neptune man was arrested and charged with a host of weapons charges after being stopped by the State Police Trooper in town, according to arrest warrants.

Edward B. Johnson, 23, was stopped on Monday by a State Police trooper and charged with possession of an expandable baton, illegal possession of a 9mm handgun, possession of mace, possession of handcuffs and receiving stolen property for having the stolen handgun, according to arrest warrants.

Johnson was taken to Monmouth County jail, Freehold Township, in lieu of $33,000 bail.

Johnson, who was incarcerated Wednesday, was additionally charged by Neptune Police with threatening to kill someone. Bail on that charge was $15,000, according to jail records.
