Mike Black, Wall Township-based photographer and teacher, caught this photograph of a comet passing through the skies over Wall Township Wednesday evening.
The comet is visible over the next few nights but it is very low in the west and can only be seen for a short time after sunset and before the comet sets. A pair of binoculars recommended.
Comets are mostly ice, mixed with rock and substances. When they near the sun, they heat up, the ice begins to melt and the ice and rock and debris for a 'tail' which is illuminated by the sun.
