Wall Passes Pot Ban Ordinance
This ordinance, which bans both the sale and cultivation of marijuana in the borough, was unanimously passed.
WALL, NJ – At their meeting on May 26, the Wall Township Committee unanimously approved an ordinance that put a wide-sweeping ban on any commercial activity regarding cannabis in the borough.
The ordinance, which was introduced at the April 28 meeting, bans the sale of marijuana in the borough and the sale of any product pertaining to marijuana and the growing or cultivating of cannabis.
During the public comment session before the vote, residents spoke against the ordinance, saying that it goes against the state’s view, presenting the committee with an online petition signed by over 100 residents and non-residents.

Wall resident Keith Hunsinger, the person who presented the committee with the petition, told the committee that the borough could be losing revenue due to this ban.
“I feel that if Wall Township does not participate in this, they are losing out,” Hunsinger said.

State senate candidate Dan Stinger commented on the ban during the public hearing, saying that the committee is trying to “undermine” the voters with the passing of this ordinance.
After the public comment portion of the hearing concluded, township attorney Sean Ken said that putting this ordinance into place allows the township to look back at the ordinance in a year or so and make any changes on the ordinance.
