WALL, NJ – A Wall Township police officer recently performed vital first aid on a pet hit by a vehicle, according to a release from the police department. The four-legged resident has since made a full recovery.

At approximately 9:15 p.m. on July 23, Ptl. Mark Daugherty of the Wall Township Police Department responded to a report of a dog struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Belmar Boulevard and Edgemere Road in Wall.

At the scene, Ptl. Daugherty performed first aid on the injured pet, later identified as “Major”. The three-year-old Husky had escaped from its nearby residence before the incident, according to police.

Major was then transported to Garden State Veterinary Hospital in Tinton Falls for treatment following first aid from Ptl. Daugherty. One week later, Major’s family contacted the Wall Township Police Department to personally thank Ptl. Daugherty and inform him of Major’s recovery.
