Wall Schools Closed Thursday; Trash, Recycling Delayed

Officials urge residents to move vehicles off the streets for plowing; Christmas tree pickups will be delayed also.

WALL, NJ — The Wall Township Public Schools will be closed Thursday, Jan. 4, due to the impending winter storm.

District officials announced the decision Wednesday night, following the issuance of a blizzard warning for the area by the National Weather Service. The forecast includes up to 6 inches of snow and strong winds gusting to as much as 50 mph. Whiteout conditions are possible, and the warning is in effect until 7 p.m. Thursday.

St. Rose High School in nearby Belmar is closed as well.

"In order to assist us in our snow removal efforts the Department of Public Works requests that you do not put any cans out prior to Thursday evening," officials said in a post on the Wall police department's Facebook page. "The Township also requests that no Christmas trees be placed at the curb until Saturday January 6th."

Township recycling centers will be closed on Thursday and will re-open Friday morning.

"In an effort to remain safe and assist our efforts, please avoid driving on snow covered roads unless it's necessary and remove vehicle(s) from the street. Parking is not permitted on any township road during a snow event. Thank you for your anticipated cooperation."
