2 Dead, Multiple Injured In Garden State Parkway Crash: NJSP
Police are investigating after two people died in a Garden State Parkway crash that left others injured and shut down traffic.
CLIFTON, NJ — Police are investigating after a Garden State Parkway traffic brought traffic to a halt on Wednesday night in Clifton and left two people dead and others with injuries, according to multiple reports.
New Jersey State Police said the crash happened around 8:23 p.m. when the driver of a southbound GMC Suburban, Sandra Vanderslice, 57, of Philadelphia, lost control of her vehicle. Authorities say the car ran off the left side of the road, striking a concrete barrier.
The car was overturned after striking the barrier, and entered the northbound lanes of traffic, striking four other vehicles.

Vanderslice, as well as a passenger in another vehicle, Maxim Viscio, 29, of Jersey City, were both pronounced dead at the scene, State Police Sgt. Lawrence Peele told Patch Thursday.
One person sustained serious injuries, while three others sustained "moderate" injuries. Two others involved in the crash were uninjured, authorities said.

The northbound lanes of the highway were closed for approximately four hours, state police said.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash.
