4th NJ Traffic Fatality In 4 Days

A woman was killed in a car crash on Tuesday, prosecutors said. At least three others were killed in crashes.

NEW JERSEY – A woman was killed in a car crash in New Jersey on Tuesday, prosecutors said. It was at least the fourth traffic fatality in four days in New Jersey.

Mary Hernandez, 64, was attempting to cross Gregory Avenue in Passaic when she was struck by a 2018 Toyota 4-Runner driven by Manuel Henry Tolivia Gimeno, 48, of Valencia, Spain, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office.

Three people died this past weekend in three separate crashes. A Millville man died when he crashed his SUV into a concrete barrier on a closed road in Vineland on Saturday, police said. A Salem man also died of his injuries following a two-vehicle crash in Vineland, according to nj.com.

And A 33-year-old motorcyclist also was killed after rear-ending a minivan while speeding early Sunday in Stratford, according to nj.com. Read more: 3 Killed In 3 Crashes In South Jersey: Police

The Passaic accident happened at approximately 6:05 a.m. when officers responded to the area of 228 Gregory Avenue to a motor vehicle accident involving a single vehicle and a pedestrian, according to the PCPO

Gimeno was the only occupant of the Toyota and he was not injured in the accident.

Hernandez, of Passaic, was brought to St. Mary’s Hospital in Passaic where she was pronounced deceased at 6:17 a.m., according to the PCPO.

No charges have been filed at this time. However this investigation remains active and
ongoing. More information will be released once it becomes available.
