50-Year Wayne Family Doctor Victor Irmiere Died Monday

Irmiere was a physician who could, 'easily and kindly relate to just about anyone.'

Dr. Victor Joseph Irmiere, a family physician who practiced in Wayne for almost 50 years, died Monday, his obituary stated.

Irmiere was a, "gifted family physician" and could "easily and kindly relate to just about anyone."

He was a graduate of Rutgers University and Hahnemann Medical School in Philadelphia. He received his Medical Doctor degree in 1955.

He was a captain and family physician in U.S. Air Force at Webb Air Force Base in Big Spring, Texas.

In 1973, he came to Wayne General Hospital and was affiliated with St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Paterson.

He was medical director of Passaic Valley Hospice and Llanfair House Nursing Home and Wayne, and was a member of the Medical Society of New Jersey and the Passaic County Medical Society.

He was a founder member and parishioner of Our Lady of Consolation R.C. Church in Wayne.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor; children Alice, Claudia, Andrew, Dorothy, Victoria, and Maria; sister, Florence; 11 grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

He was predeceased by his brother, Frank, and sister, Grace.

A celebration of his life will be at noon Sept. 24 at Our Lady of Consolation Church, 1799 Hamburg Turnpike.
