While there will be no post season for the 2020 Mets, who finished the COVID-shortened 60 game season with a disappointing record of 26-34 and a last place finish in the National League East. New York Mets fans in their 80’s and 90’s, who reside at The Bristal Assisted Living community, know that not all Mets seasons have been winning ones and once again will follow the familiar adage of “ wait until next year”
These veteran fans got together via ZOOM with two members of the 1962 Mets team, their first official year, former Mets pitchers, 84 year old Jay Hook and 82 year old Craig Anderson. The 1962 Mets finished with a record of 40-120.
Hook had a record of 29-62 in seven major league seasons with the Reds and Mets. He was the winning pitcher in the Mets first-ever victory. He beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 9-1 after the Mets lost their first nine games.
