Check This Out: New Menu, Renovation at Clifton's Tick Tock Diner

The new menu includes the "Mick Jagger" breakfast sandwich, named as a tribute to the rocker's visit to the diner last summer.

CLIFTON, NJ – After a 10-week renovation, the Tick Tock Diner has returned with a new interior, new executive chef and new menu.

While the Route 3 diner’s iconic exterior and neon signs were kept intact, the inside was completely revamped – the first renovation in more than 25 years, according to the diner.

That includes an expanded bar area, new floors, ceilings and tables, and an upgraded kitchen.

The 24-hour diner's menu includes:

  • Diner favorites such as breakfast eggs, omelets, pancakes, waffles, sandwiches, burgers and milkshakes are still available around the clock, including newcomer The Mick Jagger with Taylor ham (pork roll), two fried eggs and American cheese on a brioche bun with disco fries.
  • Dinner offerings have expanded as well with salads like greens, grains & garden bowl with quinoa, hummus, barley and avocado.
  • Fish and seafood dishes such as sea Scallops with cauliflower puree, string beans, pomegranate seeds and lemon butter sauce, and Atlantic salmon with vegetable fricassee and fingerling potatoes.
  • Meat entrees like braised boneless short rib; pan roasted free range chicken; oven moussaka and baby back ribs.
  • Vegetarian and vegan options, including Beyond Meat meatless burger and sausages are available as well.
  • More salads and bowls, seasonal ingredients, free range chicken, slow cooked meats, fresh fish and more. As much is made in house as possible, including fries from fresh potatoes, salad dressings made from scratch and house baked pies and cakes.
  • An expanded coffee program now also features cold brew, nitro cold brew and French press coffee made with beans from the local roaster Lacas Coffee Co.

After opening in 1948, the diner has become a North Jersey staple and was named the number two diner in the United States by The Daily Meal website in 2017.

The current owners bought it in 1987 and expanded the building to its present size in 1994. It is located at 281 Allwood Road (Route 3 West) in Clifton.

The Tick Tock Diner has had some noteworthy patrons over the years, including Jerry Seinfield, Artie Lange, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.

In August, Mick Jagger, 76, reportedly grabbed breakfast at the Tick Tock Diner with his bandmates. During a concert at Metlife Stadium, Jagger offered his take – sort of – on the Garden State's endless breakfast meat debate after saying he enjoyed his Taylor Ham sandwich.
