COVID Vaccine Site List Expands In Passaic County: What To Know

The state plans to expand the number of COVID-19 vaccination sites. Here's where you can go to get one now.

WAYNE, NJ — New Jersey has been expanding the number of publicly listed COVID-19 vaccination sites, and a number of locations have been identified in Passaic County, Wayne and elsewhere.

Some are accepting appointments directly, but some are not. But the state has suggested reaching out to those sites and seeing if getting an appointment is possible (see the area/county’s list of vaccine sites below).

Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli said the state plans to increase the number of vaccination sites beyond 300. State officials have said the goal is to vaccinate 70 percent of the adult population by the spring.

Scheduling began Friday at CVS locations with inoculations set to begin Saturday.

CVS Pharmacy was already administering vaccines as part of the Federal Pharmacy Program, which means they receive doses directly from the federal government separate from the New Jersey allocation, and now has begun receiving shipments of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine.

Gov. Phil Murphy announced that New Jersey has created a county-by-county vaccine hub that reports the number of immunizations across the state.

"We're working strategically and efficiently to vaccinate our frontline health care workers, law enforcement and fire professionals and long-term care center residents and staff," he said.

Wayne Township officials got some good news this week after state officials were set to send 100 extra doses to the town-operated vaccination site, according to Mayor Christopher Vergano.

Still, Vergano wishes the town had more doses available, and is urging residents who can't get an appointment in Wayne to seek one elsewhere.

"My only wish is that we have more vaccines to give out," he said.

Health officials said not all sites are publicly listed because some are not open to the public, such as prisons and psychiatric hospitals.
