'Devoted Mother' Sara Gordon, 38, Of Wayne Dies Suddenly

She 'was a wonderful young lady who was taken too soon and whose greatest passion was for her son and her family,' her obituary said.

WAYNE, NJ — Sara Lynn Gordon, 38, a devoted mother to her son, Timothy and lifelong Wayne resident, died suddenly and unexpectedly Tuesday.

She "was a wonderful young lady who was taken too soon and whose greatest passion was for her son and her family," her said family in her obituary. "She touched the lives of many people and will be sincerely missed by everyone that knew her."

Her purpose in life became clear in December 2002 when Timothy was born, the obituary read.

She was an extremely devoted mother, nurturing and caring for her son, her family said.

Gordon volunteered coaching soccer, basketball, and baseball for the Boys & Girls Club of Wayne when her son was young.

She was one of Lori and George Gordon's three children. She played in various soccer clubs when she was young and attended Wayne Hills High School.

She excelled at the flute in high school. She was a select player in the school's ensembles, including the marching, concert, and jazz bands and the chorus.

After her gradation in 1999, Gordon was selected for an honors band and went on a 24-day European tour, playing in Holland, Italy, Germany, France, and Austria. She also played in a local jazz ensemble and performed locally.

Gordon also painted, sketched, and took photographs.

Gordon earned her associate's degree in criminal justice from Morris County Community College. While attending college, she was offered a position as a spokesperson for various adult beverage products. She hosted events and parties at local taverns and restaurants.

"Sara had the perfect personality for this position," her family said. "She was cordial, happy, congenial, and always seen with a smile."

She is survived by her son; mother; father; brother, Daniel, and his wife, Sandra; sister, Lindsay; nieces Samantha, Julia, and Mileena; and nephew Demetrius.

Visitation with the family is from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home, 567 Ratzer Road, in Wayne. A funeral service is 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Interment will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in West Milford.

The family asked that donations in Gordon's name be made to the Lupus Foundation of America 2121 K St., NW, Suite 200, Washington, D.C. 20037.
