Facing Supply Shortage, Wayne Animal Shelter Needs Your Help

WAYNE, NJ – A local animal shelter says it is facing a shortage of supplies and is asking the community to donate some much-needed items so workers can continue caring for its furry friends.

According to the shelter, a supply shipment has been delayed until Sept. 20, but in the meantime they “are in dire need” of the following:

• Bleach
• Disinfecting wipes
• Paper towels
• Laundry pods,
• Large nitrile gloves
• Wee-wee pads
• Dry dog food
• Wet cat food
• Pate kitten food

Donations can be left on the shelter’s front porch anytime.

According to the shelter, monetary donations are also accepted, as well as gift cards to pet food stores, PetCo and PetSmart, and retail stores, such as Costco.

For further information, call 973-694-0767 during the shelter’s adoption hours, which are Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6 to 8 p.m., and from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Wayne Animal Shelter is located at 201 Pompton Plains Crossroads, just off Route 23 at the Jackson Avenue exit.

The shelter is also hiring employees to work during weekdays and weekends.

Applicants must be 17 to apply and can fill out an application in person when the shelter is open, or call 973-694-0767 to make an appointment apply.

Shelter Duties Include:

*Stand/Walk Up To 4 Hours
*Reach, Lift and Carry At Least 20 to 50 lbs.
*Cleaning & Care of Cat Rooms, Dog Kennels and Dog Outside Runs
*Clean & Sanitize Cat Litter Pans and Replenish Litter
*Sanitize and Replenish Animal’s Water & Food Bowls
*Replenish Animal’s Bedding
*Walk, Exercise and Socialize Dogs
*Groom & Socialize Cats
*Assist in Bathing Dogs
*Medicate Animals
*Daily Housekeeping: Laundry, Dishes, Mop & Sweep Floors
