Jobbers-Miller was shot by Winser Desmaret, 29, during a foot pursuit July 21, police said. Desmaret was wanted for allegedly stealing a cell phone from a group of kids. Jobbers-Miller responded to the call involving Desmaret.

Jobbers-Miller was shot in the head and remained in "critical, but stable" condition at the hospital for seven days after he was shot, Fort Myers Police Chief Derrick Diggs previously said.

Desmaret was charged with eight felonies, including first-degree attempted murder, upon his release from the hospital, Fort Myers Police Chief Derrick Diggs. It is unknown if any of the charges would be changed or upgraded following Jobbers-Miller's death.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to express their condolences to Jobbers-Miller's family may make a donation to a GoFundMe campaign. The money will help his family pay for medical bills and other expenses related to her husband's death.

Personal checks may be made out to Patricia Miller and mailed to the Fort Myers Police Station, 2210 Widman Way, Fort Myers, Fla. 33901. Note on the check that it is for Jobbers-Miller. The Fort Myers Police Department Fallen Officer Memorial Foundation is overseeing the disbursement of the funds.
