Giants' QB Kyle Lauletta Could Be Suspended Following Arrest

'There're consequences for this type of behavior,' Giants head coach Pat Shurmur said on WFAN Tuesday.

New York Giants backup quarterback Kyle Lauletta could be suspended following his arrest after nearly running over a cop in Weehawken on his way to MetLife Stadium.

Giants head coach Pat Shurmur said the organization is "trying to get to the bottom" of what happened regarding Lauletta's arrest.

"Obviously, it's disturbing when things like this happen," the first-year coach told WFAN's Mike Francisca Tuesday. "There's obviously things we're going to do internally. There're consequences for this type of behavior."

Quoting sources with knowledge of the incident, Lauletta, 23, was trying to turn onto Route 495 West from the wrong lane. A police officer directed him to keep going straight, but Lauletta made the right-hand turn anyway and nearly ran over the officer, according to an NJ.com report. Another officer stopped Lauletta at the end of the on-ramp, according to the report.

Lauletta is a Pennsylvania native. The Giants selected him in the fourth round of this year's NFL draft. He has yet to play in a regular-season NFL game.

Lauletta's arrest is the latest blemish for the Giants during this 1-7 season. The team's next game is Nov. 12 against the San Francisco 49ers.
