Louisiana Man Arrested In Wayne On Weapons Charges: Police
Police arrested the 25-year-old at the Ramada Inn off Route 46, also finding marijuana and an open bottle of wine in the vehicle, they said.
WAYNE, NJ — A Baton Rogue, Louisiana man was arrested after police said they found a loaded firearm in his vehicle Dec. 9.
According to police, while conducting patrols along the Route 46 corridor, officers saw a car parked at the Ramada Inn which had fogged windows.
Officers approached the vehicle, and, according to police "detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle."

The driver, Michael Walker, 25, admitted to smoking in the vehicle. An officer then ordered Walker to get out of the vehicle.
According to police, Walker said he needed to put his shoes on first, but, when he reached down toward the floor, police said they "observed a black handgun lying on the floor by the driver's feet and immediately seized control of the driver's hands."

Police recovered the gun from the vehicle, they said, and a further search of the car revealed marijuana and an open bottle of wine, which, according to police, Walker admitted to drinking in the vehicle.
Walker, who police said didn't have a permit for the gun, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, open container in a motor vehicle and unlawful possession of a weapon.
He is held in Passaic County Jail, pending an arraignment.
