Meet Wayne Animal Shelter's 'Pet Of The Week'

Say hello to Mayhem.

(Wayne Animal Shelter)

WAYNE, NJ – Say hello to Mayhem.

Soon after he turned four years old, it was discovered that Mayhem is FIV+, which stands for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, which people mistakenly believe is a threat to humans, according to the Wayne Animal Shelter.

The condition is not easily passed between cats nor can it be spread casually, and it cannot be passed by sharing food, water, grooming each other, litter boxes or even playing. A cat with FIV “merely means he or she has a suppressed immune system and will usually live a normal life span,” the shelter said.

Mayhem is a “super sweet, gentle cat” that loves playing and can be very entertaining to watch, the shelter said.

“Please don’t overlook him just because he’s FIV+. He truly deserves a second chance to live a wonderful life with a loving family. Being FIV+ doesn’t matter to Mayhem, but being loved does,” the shelter said.
