Robert McMinn, 92, Owner Of the Old Barn Milk Bar, Died Monday

WAYNE, N.J. — Robert Joseph McMinn, the former owner of the Old Barn Milk Bar, died Monday. He was 92.
He was the owner and operator of one of the most popular ice cream shops in North Jersey from 1944 to 1988. It was a very popular hangout spot for kids and families alike.

McMinn grew up in Butler before moving to Wayne.
He was a World War II Army veteran and served as a corporal in the 327th Glider Infantry Regiment. He received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was a prisoner of war in 1944.

McMinn was a former real estate agent and an avid tennis player. He loved to travel and wintered in Aruba for 20 years.
He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Consolation R.C. Church in Wayne.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Elizabeth, second wife, Dorothy, infant son, Joseph, brother, Thomas, and sisters Jean and Barbara.
McMinn is survived by his children, Barbara Roberts, Bruce, and Joseph; grandchildren, Austin, Jason, Timothy, Gene, and Michael; great-granddaughter Adalyn, and a brother, Gerald, and his wife Joan.
Visiting hours will be today from 3 to 7 p.m. at Moore's Home for Funerals in Wayne.
A funeral Mass will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Consolation R.C. Church, 1799 Hamburg Turnpike, in Wayne. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Butler.
