Rutgers Dismisses Ex-Wayne Hills Star QB From Football Team
Brendan DeVara, a former all-state player, is a sophomore at Rutgers University.

WAYNE, NJ — Rutgers has dismissed two players, including a former Wayne Hills star quarterback, from the football team.
Former Patriot Brendan DeVara and defensive back K.J. Gray were dismissed from the team, Rutgers athletics spokesperson Hasim Phillips confirmed Wednesday. Phillips declined to comment on exactly why DeVara, a sophomore, and Gray, a junior, were dismissed, but NJ.com reported it was because they violated team rules.
DeVara played linebacker and special teams for the Scarlet Knights his freshman season. He appeared in 11 games, playing mostly on special teams. He had one tackle and assisted on another in 2017.
