Tropical Storm Isaias Tears Down Trees, Many Still Without Power
Thousands are without power across Bergen County and in Wayne Township after Tropical Storm Isaias hit the area.

WAYNE, NJ — Thousands are still without power throughout Bergen and Passaic County after Tropical Storm Isaias wreaked havoc on the area Tuesday.
The storm caused downed trees in Teaneck, as well as Wyckoff, where a Postal Service mail truck was crushed by a fallen limb, according to a Tweet from Meteorologist Hilda Estevez. According to Estevez, the driver was not in the truck when the limb fell on it.

The storm is also impacted public transportation in the area, as the NJ Transit rail service was suspended system wide due to overhead wire and signal issues. Fallen trees across tracks were largely to blame.

In Wayne, the township announced that the Route 23 South to 46 West Ramp was closed due to a large sign in the roadway. A downed tree and wires closed a northbound entrance ramp on NJ 17 in Paramus, and another tree blocked lanes of traffic in Saddle Brook.

Gov. Phil Murphy issued a state of emergency Monday night, effective as of 5 a.m. Tuesday.
In preparation for the storm, municipalities and organizations announced outright or early closures, including the Wayne Motor Vehicle Commission agency and Teaneck municipal buildings.
