Vergano Talks Wayne Reorganization Meeting, Gives COVID Update
The reorganization meeting was likely the first one ever held virtually. Mayor Christopher Vergano hopes it will be the last.
WAYNE, NJ — As far as Wayne Township Mayor Christopher Vergano knows, Wednesday night marked the first reorganization meeting hosted over Zoom.
"I truly hope it will be the last," added Vergano.
Vergano, now in his 14th year as the mayor of Wayne, thanked residents for their continued support.

He also congratulated Richard Jasterzbski, who was selected as Council President, and thanked the rest of the council for their support during the past 12 months.
"COVID-19 swarmed in and changed everything, including our daily way of life," said Vergano.
It's true that the coronavirus altered things for the township.
A total of 3,641 residents have tested positive for COVID-19, and 196 residents have died. Those numbers are spiking as well, with over 1,000 new cases of the coronavirus reported in Wayne since the beginning of December.
Vergano added that businesses and restaurants are struggling, and the buoy of outdoor dining only provided so much support, as the cold weather proved to be another hurdle.
But there is a glimmer of hope on the horizon, as the township hosted its first vaccine clinic on Friday.
