Vote For Wayne Football Player Nominated For Heart Of Giant Award
A DePaul Catholic football player is being recognized for his moves on the field and off of it.

WAYNE, NJ – A high school football player in Wayne is one of several students from across the tri-state region being recognized for his moves on the field and off of it.
Sean Kelly, DePaul Catholic High School’s football captain, was named as one of the nominees for the 2019 USA Football Heart of a Giant Award, a recognition presented by the Hospital for Special Surgery and New York Giants to student athletes for their commitment, teamwork, character and dedication.
If Kelly gets enough support from online fans, he can earn his school’s football program $10,000 and be honored on the field during a New York Giants’ home game. Click here to vote for Kelly through Sept. 30.

Kelly said he tries to lead by example on the field, in the classroom and out in the community.
DePaul's head football coach, John Mckenna said, Kelly is a member of the National Honor Society, volunteers at youth camps over the summer and participates in Christian outreach activities, such as feeding and clothing the homeless.

"Being a contributing part of the community gives a sense of warmth," the teen said.
Voting will remain open for 25 days to select finalists in the contest. From there, a winner will be selected based on video submissions from players explaining why they have “the Heart of a Giant.”
All six finalists and four honorable mention finalists will receive $1,000 for their school’s football program, and the winner will get an additional $9,000. The grand prize winner will be honored on the field during a New York Giants’ home game.
